What is licensing?
Licensing allows usage of a single Dilbert comic strip in a powerpoint presentation, newsletter, brochure, blog, book or intranet. Pricing is based on the selected usage, the number of people in your audience, and/or the number of people that will see your handouts, brochures, blogs or newsletters. If you are interested in using multiple Dilbert comic strips you will need to purchase a license for each strip you are planning to use.
How do I license a strip?
Easy. First you select the strip you'd like to license using the Strip-O-Matic. The Strip-O-Matic allows you to search the Dilbert Comic Strip Archive by Keywords, Character or Date Range. Once you've selected your strip, click the big blue "Click to License Strip for Reuse" button. Then select the Usage and Audience size approrpriate for your use, and add the license to the cart. Once you've completed checkout, you'll have instant access to the downloadable assets for that strip, which include graphics suitable for the web and for print, as well as a PDF copy of your license. Our phone service agents are available to help with your purchase (1-800-414-6584) but license purchases must be made online. License purchases are not returnable
What does Audience Size mean?
Audience Size is the number of people that are going to see your work incorporating the Dilbert comic strip that you've licensed during its entire lifetime. If you are giving a powerpoint presentation to a group of 80 co-workers Audience Size is 80. The same presentation has an Audience Size of 500 if in addition to presenting to the group of 80 your presentation is sent digitally to 420 workers in satellite offices. If the same presentation featuring the Dilbert comic strip is given quarterly then the Audience Size jumps to 2000 (4 x 500).
For web applications (websites, corporate intranets..) you should calculate Audience Size by number of impressions per month times the number of months the content that includes the Dilbert comic strip will be live.
What do I get?
After you checkout, you'll receive download links for the strip you licensed in up to 3 formats, depending on your license. Digital only licenses will receive the strip in JPG and PDF format. Licenses including print rights will also receive the file in high resolution TIFF format.
